Learn how to play jazz by…playing it! These arrangements are a great way to be introduced to jazz harmony, voicing, melodic leading and more – without having to ‘know’ how to play jazz. And for the adventurous player, the ‘Head’ arrangement is followed by a ‘Solo’ improvisation passage giving simple accompaniment chords and a suggestion of scales to use to try and create your own solo. The video demo gives an example solo roughly using this guide. This ‘Easy’ jazz piano arrangement is accessible to early piano learners, but by no means simplistic – introducing a few harmonic minor scales in the solo section to experiment with!
